DeSoto newspaper passes to next generation

Ownership of the DeSoto Times-Tribune in Hernando is passing to the next generation. Jonathan Pittman, who has worked in management at the paper for the past couple of years, is assuming ownership of the newspaper according to his father, Tom Pittman, managing partner of PH Publishing.  The announcement was made May 23.

The Pittman family originally purchased the DeSoto Times from former owner Bill Bailey in 1997. The paper absorbed the former DeSoto County Tribune in 2007 from Emmerich Newspapers.
